We have also removed all of our feed distributors for servicing. Some of the things we have to service are new bearings, new radios, new computer boards… just to list a few. Also big news they are all getting a new type radio which is meant to pair with the microphone acoustic system which we will be running next season. The system will actually be able to hear the shrimp eating and feed accordingly for maximum growth!!

Doing some work to our feeders, straightening up the lids; tightening the slack on the black hoses, and installing a pvc pipe on each feeder to protect the power wire, mainly from getting bumped by the canoe when we have to service them.

Got the aerator axle all back together and ready for install. Had to go to Dothan Alabama and pick up the parts. The place was a pretty neat military surplus supply. (see last photo) also we added a grease fitting to the axle hubs to make servicing easy and possible.

Here’s a couple more shots from yesterday of us unloading the pipe. We had a bit of a time coming into the farm up the hill, and getting turned around in the back of the farm with the trailer after unloading the pipe. Nothing we couldn’t handle tho!

Up close and personal with our MiniMax S1200 feed delivery system. This baby is it, custom made one of the most important pieces on the farm. Built by hand to order from some Canadian Engineers, this unit came with a hefty price tag and we are fortunate enough to have one. Glory to god and thankful for all we are given!

Our shrimp are finally big enough we were able to remove and pressure wash all of our window screens. We add these at the beginning of the season so the babies can’t escape but now we are good!

Doing a little playing in the sandpit today, LOL! One of our culverts collapsed and we are having to replace it so our harvest ditch will drain.

Been working on our diesel aerators servicing them and making some repairs. This one got a new water pump. Radiator repair, full service with new filters and fluids. Also we added a oil pressure gauge.

We have come to the realization that our field of spare aerators is now covered in black berry vines. It won’t be long and then we will have a ton of berries! Can’t wait to make some homemade black berry cobbler with vanilla ice-cream.

It’s the little things that matter in life. We made a huge improvement by adding this little bracket to hold the power wire on the feeders. It helps keep the wire out of the feed path and it swivels out of the way for when we need to unplug the feeders and coil the wire when we clean our ponds in the off season.

Our battery kept going dead on our feed delivery system. It turns out our alternator wasn’t hooked up, so we got it fixed today and even installed a voltage meter.

This was causing a lot of wear to the post and would have eventually caused the feeders to collapse if not fixed. We have installed yet another upgrade by screwing rubber dampeners to the post to deflect the feed. Always something out here on the farm but we do our best to tackle all the obstacles. #haveablessedday
